Flash Game Blog Friday: 8BitRocket
Today marks the start of Flash Game Blog Friday, where I will highlight a flash related game blog for developers. I chose 8BitRocket to start with, because if I remember right, they were the first blog to accept a link exchange with me. That started my promotion attempts for Freelance Flash Games, and has helped my blog grow to the level it is today.
8BitRocket is a retro and indie game developer blog that focuses on various aspects of retro gaming, indie game development, and of course flash games. Run by Steve and Jeff Fulton, the site was started in 2006 to help inform and teach game design and programming skills to all that come across it.
Blog categories on 8BitRocket range from Flash and SilverLight development to a variety of tutorials. They’ve got a great collection of AS2>AS3 tutorials as well as game tutorials and general tips for both ActionScript 2 and 3. Check out their retro game arcade if you’ve got the urge to play some great old school style games, or take a look at their music section; offering a number of royalty free, homemade tracks by the 8BitRocket team.
While they’ve got some amazing posts scattered throughout the site, my favorite posts on 8BitRocket by far are their Flash Interweb Mash-Ups. These posts contain the latest news from the flash game industry, including info from the blogosphere, new game releases, and some off topic news that might interest you as well. They’re a must read for any flash developer.
So go give 8BitRocket a look, or stay updated with what they’re doing on twitter @8bitrocket.

I definitely love the mash ups as well, those are probably my favorite by them as well. I do appreciate their game of the day posts though, especially when that game is my own hehe.
